Windamir provided construction of a Ground Control Approach (GCA) Facility to support an upcoming Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) at Dobbins ARB. This project was designed and built to meet LEED Silver Qualification and Documentation. The sustainable features included in the project included: standing seam metal roof with a high solar reflectance index for thermal protection; water saving toilets, faucets and showers; efficient lighting and HVAC system with DDC energy management controls; waste management including recycling of materials; energy efficient insulated doors and windows; use of environmentally preferable products (low-emitting and reduced toxicity) in accordance with LEED and Dobbins ARB Environ-mental Standards; and management of construction site and storage of on-site materials to ensure no negative impact on the indoor environmental quality of the building and site. This project also qualified for several Sustainable Site credits including Site Selection, Public Transportation Access, Parking Capacity, and Heat Island Effect.
Construction Cost: $1.4 Million
Self-performance: Windamir self-performed 51% of the construction work.
